Nature's Path Honey'd Corn Flakes
Delicious allergy product cereal
We buy a lot of cereal in our house - in fact, it's our favorite fast, healthy breakfast. A quick bowl of cereal with Rice Dream or Almond Breeze (both of which are non-dairy beverages) is a staple. So I've been trying a lot of allergy products in order to find one that we could depend on; one that I could buy without having to think about it.
One of the big cereal brands in the natural food allergy product section is Nature's Path. I like their cereals because they're organic; there's no need to get any more chemicals in our bodies than we have to. So I tried their Honey'd Corn Flakes and a few of their other gluten-free offerings.
Honey'd Corn Flakes was the winner of the family taste-test, hands down. It stays nice and crunchy in milk for a reasonable length of time, and it has enough sweetness to satisfy the kids. This cereal definitely passed my son's taste-test, and he can be a picky eater (as many kids can).
This cereal is made only from organic corn meal, organic sugar cane juice, organic honey and sea salt. That's it! There are no preservatives or additives here, which is something I really like to see.
I've used this cereal when I make my own version of Rice Krispie Squares. My squares are made from a few gluten-free cereals, including gluten-free rice crisps. I find the variety makes these treats a bit more interesting, and this one adds flavor without overpowering anything else.
In addition, you can buy this allergy product in an "Eco Pac." This is a large, waxed 750-gram bag. It allows you to buy a lot of cereal without all of the excess packaging. This makes good sense to me - I'd rather reduce the amount of recycling that I generate than have to spend more time breaking down boxes and bundling them for pickup.
Honey'd Corn Flakes are gluten-free, but aren't made in an allergy-free facility, so you could be exposed to peanuts, tree nuts or soy if you eat this cereal.
