Sabalia by Boiron
Homeopathy for your allergies
Seasonal allergies are the bane of my existence. My son is allergic to almost every kind of pollen that exists. Just as we get out of the flower pollen season, we encounter the tree pollen season. Just as that wraps up, we hit grass pollen. Then, just as the grass is calling it a year, we have ragweed. The kid just doesn’t get a break.
As a result, I’m often giving him antihistamine for days on end - and I don’t feel good about it. However, the only alternative seems to be painful allergy skin-prick tests or nasty RAST blood tests (which can miss things) to pinpoint exactly the forms of pollen that he is reacting to, followed by allergy shots. Given that there are components of the shots that I find objectionable, I’m stuck.
I really want to move to safer, alternative treatments, but to what?
This year, I found a combination remedy for seasonal allergies called Sabalia. It’s from Boiron, a well-known homeopathic provider. Given the severity of Michael’s symptoms this year, I figured that if it even helped me to reduce the amount of antihistamine I was giving him, it would be worth it.
Surprisingly enough, I’ve been able to stop using antihistamine and rely solely on the Sabalia! Even better, it does not cause drowsiness, excitability, dry nasal passages or other common allergy-medication side effects. It seems to just get rid of the symptoms.
I do sometimes have to give it very frequently in order to keep Michael calm and symptom-free. The package indicates that an allergy sufferer can take one tablet every 15 minutes until the symptoms subside and then two tablets four times a day as a preventive measure.
We’ve found that it works both ways. If we remember to start right away in the morning, two tablets four times a day is sufficient. If we forget the dose first thing in the morning, a quick succession of two or three one-tablet doses 15 minutes apart will get Michael back on track, and then we’ll go back to our preventive dosing schedule.
If you are interested in reducing or eliminating your (or your seasonal allergy sufferer’s) use of antihistamines, I’d highly recommend this combination homeopathic remedy.
