Ecological Automatic Dishwasher Tablets by Ecover

A Good, Clean Allergy Product

In addition to using allergy-free products in our house, we also try to use products that are as natural as possible. We try to help to protect the environment while protecting ourselves from allergic reactions.

With that in mind, I’ve been hunting high and low for a new automatic dishwasher solution. Now, I’ve tried other allergy products for the dishwasher, but I haven’t been terribly happy with the results - cleaning dishes isn’t something I want to do twice.

When I noticed that Ecover had a tablet, I thought I’d give it a try. I’ve heard other people rave about the convenience and results with ‘conventional’ tablets for the dishwasher - I hoped that Ecover would meet the competition head on.

I was pleasantly surprised. Here’s an automatic dishwasher tablet without all the chemicals and harsh bleaches that still works! It actually manages to get rid of most dried on food (although I generally try to rinse before the dishes go into the dishwasher). I used the tablets with the Ecover Rinse Aid product, and without the residues that I’ve had from other allergy products, the dishes shine when they are done.

I found that I really like the tablet format. I hadn’t used them before - I was a confirmed user of dishwashing gel - and I didn’t realize how nice it would be to have a no mess, no fuss cleanser for my dishwasher. Tablets mean you don’t have to measure. My five-year-old son now adds the soap into the dishwasher as we put the dishes in together.

Did you know that one of the biggest sources of pollution in your kitchen is your dishwasher? It’s true! When you open your dishwasher, the harsh detergents and chlorine are released in the air as a vapour, and they also enter your lungs. This is where the Ecover tablets are much better than anything else I’ve tried. You can open the dishwasher through the cycle, and not have to hold your breath! All you can smell is a gentle natural fragrance, which the package lists as plant-based.

Even better, the product has no phosphates, and uses plant-based ingredients. The product exceeds legislative requirements for biodegradability, and is safe for septic tanks.

The ingredients of the tablets are: oxygen; chlorine-free bleach; plant-based non-ionic tensio-active surfactants; enzymes; salts; silicate; citrate; polypeptides; plant-based bleach activator and plant-based fragrance.
