Natural Diaper Ointment
Diaper ointment that doubles as sunscreen!
Here’s an allergy product that I just love - Burt’s Bees Diaper Ointment - and it’s one of the best diaper ointments that you can use on your little one’s diaper rash. I used it with my son when he was little and now continue to use it on my daughter.
Now, this is a rich and substantial diaper cream. It provides a serious moisture barrier with the combination of zinc oxide, sweet almond oil, and beeswax as the main ingredients. This is not the kind of cream that absorbs completely into the skin, so if you pick this allergy product, be sure to pay attention to those baby creases!
This diaper ointment is full of healthy ingredients such as Vitamins E and A to help keep the skin glowing; jojoba and lavender oils to help nourish; and herbal extracts to promote healing and provide a lovely scent! This product smells primarily of lavender as it’s fresh and light.
Given that we like to be outside in the summer, and this contains a lot of zinc which can act as a natural sunscreen, I decided to try this on my son as a light sunscreen. I have to say, I wouldn’t use this when serious sun protection was needed, but it seemed to work fine for an emergency when we were out and about and didn’t have sunscreen.
However, since it worked for my son, I have to admit that I’ve since used it for my daughter when we’re outside. Commercial sunscreens have too many chemicals for my taste and furthermore, they aren’t recommended for infants under 6 months. Using a bit of this natural ointment on my daughter’s exposed skin seems to be enough (combined with hats and other physical sun protection) to keep her from getting too much sun!
Burt’s Bees Diaper Ointment is a great allergy product for diaper rash and, best of all, is not tested on animals.
