Gluten-Free Breadsticks by Glutino
A great-tasting allergy product
As I may have mentioned before, I happen to like the Glutino brand. They generally make very good allergy products. When new Glutino products are released at my local supermarket, I’m likely to try them out.
Such was the case when I stumbled upon Glutino’s Gluten-Free Breadsticks. We’re a family that likes our (rice) pasta with a nice hearty meat sauce, and bread sticks seemed like the perfect addition to an Italian-style meal. I checked the ingredients carefully - gluten free doesn’t necessarily mean dairy free, and we have to avoid both. I was in luck - no milk products of any kind in the ingredient list! With dreams of a lovely pasta supper for the family (with a glass of wine for the grownups), I bought a package and took them home.
They were a hit! Everyone liked them. They were light and crunchy and a perfect complement to our pasta meal. In fact, my husband (who still eats wheat because he doesn’t have allergies) said that they were just as good as the “real thing”. On the package, it indicates that this product is imported from Italy. It makes sense that they would know how to make a good breadstick!
These breadsticks immediately became a favourite snack food of mine - until we quickly ran out of them. You can have six of these little breadsticks for a total of 40 calories. Not only are they low in calories, they are also low in fat - another plus. As a new mom who is trying to lose a bit of baby weight, having a crunchy snack that is low in both calories and fat is a definite plus!
Another plus to these breadsticks - they are free of almost everything except taste. They are trans fat-free, sugar-free, GMO-free, soy-free, peanut-free, milk-free, and have no preservatives or additives. They are practically the perfect allergy product!
But not quite - unfortunately, if you have corn allergies, these breadsticks are not for you. The ingredients in these breadsticks include corn starch, as well as potato flour, rice starch, cocoa oil, sesame seeds, yeast, dextrose, carob seeds, flour and salt.
